Fabiano Caruanna the US CHess Champion and third highest rated player in the world gave a lecture and 35 board simultaneous exhibition at Ocean County College in Toms River under the auspices of Phi Theta Kappa and the college. Also contributing a grant was the NJ State Chess Federation and the support of the Toms River Chess Club, Steve Doyle with support from the club and college community Dr Rickert, Dr Camilo and Dr Showalter.
The result was 34 wins and one loss to Sean Finn.
Fabiano noted in his lecture his favorite world champion was Fischer, his two favorite books are Zurich 1953 by Bronstein and My 60 memorable games by Fischer.
He likes 1. E4 as his preferred opening and showed a magnificent win over Magnus Carlson during his lecture.
