About the Event
This event commemorates 140 years since the founding of the NJSCF in 1885, making it one of the oldest continuously operating state chess federations in the United States. The tournament celebrates New Jersey’s prominent place in chess history — a state where Wilhelm Steinitz once lived, José Raúl Capablanca studied, and Emanuel Lasker visited Albert Einstein in Princeton.
