Event Overview
World Amateur Team and U.S. Team East
is a 6-round Swiss team tournament played at
40/100, SD/30, delay 5.
Teams consist of four players with one optional alternate.
The January 2027 Rating List will be used for all players with absolutely no exceptions.
Team Rating Rules
– The four highest-rated players determine the team average.
– The team average must be under 2200.
– Teams averaging over 2000 may have no more than 800 rating points between Boards 3 and 4.
– No more than two GMs may play on one team.
– One optional alternate is permitted.

Deadline for the $300 early entry fee.
Chess hotel rate expires, subject to availability.
Refunds after this date incur a $100 surcharge.

Entry Fees and Registration
Registration is online only. There is no on-site registration.
Changes made after entering or at the site are subject to a $30 charge.
Refunds after January 25 incur a $100 surcharge.
No refunds after February 2, 2027.

Time Control:
40 moves in 100 minutes, then sudden death in 30 minutes, with a 5-second delay.

Travelers using NJ Transit may take the Morris and Essex Line to Morris Plains.
The station is approximately 1.5 miles from the hotel.
Uber or another rideshare service is recommended for the final portion of the trip.

Team Names and Costumes
The team with the best chess-related name will have its entry fee refunded.
Sunday night also features prizes for the best chess-related costumes or gimmick.
